GlobalTuners was started by Ivo Smits in 2007, as the successor to DXTuners, in close cooperation with Kelly Lindman, founder of DXTuners and HamSphere (the Virtual Ham Radio). GlobalTuners has since become a project of UCIS Internet, a registered business in The Netherlands owned by Ivo Smits.
