Radioserver options

Configuration

The RadioServer software has many configuration options. Some are shown on the Configuration page, and some are not. This page focuses on the options that are not shown. You can change these settings by going to the Configuration page, and then clicking the Advanced configuration link at the bottom. If the configuration key is not yet listed, you have to enter it in the (left) text box at the bottom.

Note that there is a distinction between Node and Receiver related configuration options. The Node configuration can be found by going to the Configuration link on the page for your Node (you can find the link on the Receiver page). Node options affect the core behaviour of the software, for all receivers running on that Node (it is possible, but uncommon to run multiple Receivers in one Node, on one instance of the software). The receiver options will also appear in the Node's Advanced configuration, each prefixed with "Receiver.RECEIVERID.".

Node configuration

  • NodeID - SECRET! - a GUID that is used to identify the node. Do not change unless you really know what you are doing.
  • Recorder.Driver - optional - Recorder.*.dll file that is used for audio recording
  • Server.Port - TCP port number to listen for connections, is retrieved from the GT database automatically
  • Server.UPnP - either 1 or 0, whether to try to automatically forward the above TCP port in UPnP supporting NAT routers

Receiver configuration

  • Audio.Enable - 1 or 0, whether to enable audio
  • Audio.Channels - 1=mono, 2=stereo, 20=downmix stereo to mono, 21=left channel, 22=right channel
  • Audio.Rate - audio sample rate: 44100, 22050 or 11025
  • Audio.ForceByteSwapping - 1 or 0, override byte swapping in the MP3 encoder
  • Audio.Encoders - comma separated list of streams to enable (default: low, med, high)
  • Audio.Encoders.STREAMNAME.Options - list of options for the stream as on the lame(.exe) command line; not all options are supported!
  • Audio.Encoders.STREAMNAME.Mountpoint - name of the audio stream in the HTTP URL (defaults to low, medium and high respectively)
  • Audio.DRM.Device - GUID or name of the audio device to use for DRM mode (users can switch between inputs using the DRM button)
  • Antenna.Rotator - antenna rotator type (arswin or vitesse)
  • Antenna.Rotator.ComPort - serial port name for the antenna rotator (the model designed by luc / vitesse)
  • Antenna.Rotator.Host - host running the arswin rotator software (localhost)
  • Antenna.Rotator.Port - port the arswin rotator software is listening on
  • Default.Frequency - default frequency at start-up; displayed frequency for audio-only receivers
  • Default.Modulation - default mode at start-up
  • Default.Filter - default filter at start-up
  • Default.Volume - range 0-255, receiver AF gain, required for PCR analog output (set to 100-150)
  • Default.Squelch - range 0-255
  • Default.Attenuator - 0 or 1
  • Default.AutoSet - set receiver to defaults when there are no users
  • Deny.Frequency - list of disallowed frequencies in Hz (e.g. 0-1000000,2000000-3000000 would disallow 0-1MHz and 2-3MHz)
  • Deny.Modulation - list of disallowed modes (e.g. WFM,AM)
  • Deny.Filter - list of disallowed filters (e.g. 0-15 would disallow 3, 6 and 15kHz on a PCR1000)
  • Deny.Option - list of disallowed options (Squelch, IfShift, RfGain, Attenuator, AGC, NoiseBlanker, VSC, StereoMono, DRM, RadioText)
  • Audio.DRM.Device - audio device to use for DRM mode (usually a loopback/virtual audio cable connected to DreaM)
  • Radio.Driver - Radio.*.dll file that is used to talk to the receiver, retrieved from the GT database
  • Radio.Type - receiver model (in the package), retrieved from the GT database

Driver configuration

These options are part of the Receiver configuration, but are used only for specific audio/receiver drivers.

  • Audio ALSA: Recorder.ALSA.Device (name)
  • Audio DirectX: Recorder.DirectX.Device (guid or index)
  • Audio OSS: Recorder.OSS.Device (path)
  • Audio SlimDX: Recorder.DirectX.Device (guid or index)

Controlling the RadioServer

Besides the options visible on the website, it is possible to control the software right from the receiver interface, using text commands in the RECEIVER CHAT box.

  • /lock - disallows anyone except the owner and Admins to tune
  • /unlock - allows guest users on the receiver to tune
  • /admin {subcommand} - admin options; try /admin help
  • /option {optionid} {value} - set an arbitrary option of the receiver (list of ids can be found elsewhere)
  • /audiostream {index} - switches the running audio stream to another audio quality (usually 0=low,1=medium,2=high)

IRC access

It is possible to control the receivers via IRC, to view chats going on and to run administrative commands (/admin command above). To do so, send private messages to the GlobalTuners bot. BE CAREFUL THAT YOU SEND THE MESSAGES TO THE CORRECT NAME, OTHERWISE YOU MAY GIVE YOUR PASSWORD AWAY!

Some supported commands:

  • login {name} {password}
  • help
